Almal wil gemak vir hulself hê… Maar wat van die gemak vir ander? Islam is 'n pragtige godsdiens omdat ons onsself nie net eerste stel nie, we also ensure that those less fortunate are taken care of too:

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they relyThe ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend. Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision. (Koran 8:2-4)

The meaning of spending from what Allah has given you means to strive in your wealth and help other people out.

Abu Huraira related that the Prophet SAW said: The Lord’s commandment for every one of His slaves is, ‘Spend on others, and I will spend on you. (Boekhari, Moslem)

What a beautiful hadith! If you spend on others, Allah will take care of ALL of your needs!

Islam teaches us to strive WITH our wealth, and not FOR our wealth. This does NOT mean you don’t work hard to earn money. It means you don’t make money the be-all and end-all of life. This is because Allah SWT has written our rizq for usso it makes no sense is wasting your life in chasing it!

Don’t make your life’s goal money – in plaas daarvan, work hard in a halal way, make dua and ask Allah to bless your rizq.

O you who have believed, indeed many of the scholars and the monks devour the wealth of people unjustly and avert [hulle] from the way of Allah SWT. And those who hoard gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allahgive them tidings of a painful punishment. (Koran 9:34)

Spending on others is a good way to earn Allah’s pleasure:

Die profeet SAW het gesê: Verily charity appeases the wrath of Allah and eases the sufferings of death. (Tirmidhi)

In 'n ander hadith, het die profeet SAW gesê:

‘Everyday, two angels descend and one of them says, `O Allah! Compensate (more) to the person who gives (in charity)’; while the other one says, `O Allah! Destroy the one who withholds (charity, ens)’ (Boekhari)

This proves that spending in Allah’s cause is a means of GAINING more rizq, while withholding it is a sure way to earn Allah’s anger.

May Allah SWT make us of those who are generous in helping others ameen!
