One of the reasons is we set unreasonable expectations of ourselves and try and do too much too fastand then struggle to keep up.

So here are 5 ways to ensure you maintain a spiritual high and finish Ramadan strong:

1.Focus On 3-5 Things You Can Do Consistently

Allah SWT loves the person who does deeds consistently:

Onye Amụma 3 kwuru, “The most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if it is small”. [Bukhari & Muslim]

Aim for doing things you KNOW you can do daily and which won’t cause you too much stress. Ee, Ramadan is about excelling in your worship, but what good is it if you do something a few times and then abandon it altogether?

Kama, work on building habits that will STAY with you long after Ramadan has left. Ọmụmaatụ, if you have a super-busy life and you can’t complete a Juz a day of the Quran, you can instead focus on building the habit of reading Quran for 5 minutes after every Salah and reading the meaning.

It doesn’t matter how small the deed is, the point is you do it with sincerity and you do it consistently.

2.Focus On Doing MORE Of What You Are Already Doing

Allah SWT wishes eases for you and never places a burden upon people they can’t bear. It’s MUCH more challenging to start a new deed than it is to increase in what you are already doing. Plus you are more likely to stick to it.

ndị ọzọ ma e wezụga Allah dị ka ndị mgba, if you’re already praying tahajjud and you only pray 2 rak’ats, Inwere ike ịbawanye nke ahụ 4. Ọ bụrụ na ị na-ekpe naanị na-ekpe ekpere gị mgbe ahụ gbakwunye na Sunna. Ọ bụrụ na-agụ otu peeji nke Qur'an n'ụbọchị, mụbaa na peeji abụọ.

4.Nourish Your Body AND Your Mind

If you’re struggling with tiredness, it can really impact your worship. You want to nourish your body with good wholesome foods such as complex carbs, lean protein, healthy fats and cut out sugar, caffeine and fried foods. This is not about FEASTING, it’s about FASTING! Eating healthy will give you the energy you need to get through your day and perform your worship properly.

Taking naps when you’re tired for 30 mins or so will help to re-charge you when you’re tired and will help improve concentration and your worship.

5.Change Your Behaviour

Ramadan is not just about worship. It’s also about improving your character. Pick one or two character traits you know you struggle with and actively work on improving those. Changing your character takes time, but now is a good a time as any to work on it!

If you’re quick to get angry, focus on keeping calm. If you have a habit of wasting time, focus on being productive. If you talk too much, do dhikr instead and keep your tongue busy with that. Whatever it is about yourself you don’t like, you can change. It’s ALL about choice. If you’re sincere about the change, ask Allah to help you improve your character. You should aim to leave Ramadan a better person than you were before you went in.

So that’s 5 ways you can maintain a spiritual high and finish Ramadan strong.

Remember that Ramadan is about consistency in habits and improving your character. Otu n'ime ihe ịrịba ama nke Romadan bụ na ị bụ onye gbanwere mgbe ị hapụrụ ya.
