Another man complained to him of poverty and he said to him: “Pray to Allah to forgive you.”
Another man said to him: “Pray to Allah to bless me with a child.” Sa ia fai mai: “Pray to Allah for forgiveness.”
Another complained to him that his garden was dry. He said to him: “Pray to Allah for forgiveness.”

The Prophet SAW used to make abundant istighfar throughout his day and advised us to do the same. Countless stories have been taught to us in the Quran and hadith about the power of istighfar (saying astaghfirullah often).
Does Allah SWT not say in the Quran that He loves to forgive so you should ask him for forgiveness in order that you may be successful?
