Suka ce, “Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. imani) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.Bukhari

The Prophet SAW never left the night prayers (Qiyammul-Layl, tahajjud and in Ramadan it’s known as taraweeh) and would sometimes stand for hours at a time in deep prayer. Subhna’Allah, even though he was a Prophet of Allah and guaranteed paradise, the Prophet SAW was extra fervent in his night prayers.

This is a huge lesson to all of us Muslims who want to attain piety or taqwa and become closer to Allah SWT. The Taraweeh during Ramadan is the perfect opportunity to get yourself into the habit of establishing the night prayers.

A gaskiya, it is during the night prayers that Allah SWT is most likely to answer our prayers. It goes without saying you MUST perform all your other prayers for your night prayers to count insha’Allah.

May Allah SWT make us from amongst those who have the highest level of taqwa and imaan – ameen.
