Dan Jum Wieħed ta’ Sawm = SANTEN ta’ Dnubietek Maħfura!

Allah SWT made the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah the BEST of days, while making the last 10 nights of Ramadan the best of nights. Għalhekk, we should aim to please Allah SWT more during this time than any other.

This is during ordinary days. Of course there is even more reward during these blessed days.

Of all the acts of worship a believer can do, the best of acts are to keep the fasts of Dhul Hijjah – especially on the Day of ‘Arafah – the day upon which Allah SWT perfected His religion:

Il-Profeta (SAW) qal: “Fasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one. And fasting the day of Ashura expiates the sins of the past year.” [Musulman]

Remember that observing the voluntary fast for a day keeps you away from Hell. In a hadith, il-Profeta (L-Islam jiddetta regoli stretti) qal,

Anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Infern) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years. (Al-Bukhari u Musulmani)

One should also make extra effort to do as much dhikr as possible:

Il-Profeta (SAW) qal: “M'hemm l-ebda ġranet li huma akbar quddiem Allah jew li fihom għemejjel tajbin huma aktar maħbubin għalih, minn dawn l-għaxart ijiem, hekk recite ħafna tahleel, takbeer u tahmeed waqthom.” [Ahmad]

• The Takbeer is Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greater than all)
• The Tahmeed is Al-Hamdu Lillah (All praise belongs to Allah)
• Tahleel: Laa ilaha ill-Allah (There is no God but Allah)
• Tasbeeh: Subhaan-Allah (Glory be to Allah)

The most common takbir is:

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Alla huwa ħażin Allah, Allahu Akbar, Wa Lillaah il-Hamd.

Allah is Greater Than All, Allah is Greater Than All, m'hemm l-ebda alla ħlief Alla; Allah is Greater than everything and to Allah belongs all praise.

Abu Hurairah (jalla Alla jkun kuntent bih) also reported that the Prophet (L-Islam jiddetta regoli stretti) qal:

He who says Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi (Allah is free from imperfection and His is the praise) one hundred times a day, his sins will be obliterated even if they are equal to the extent of the foam of the sea.(Al-Bukhari u Musulmani)

Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (jalla Alla jkun kuntent bih) rrappurtat li l-Profeta (L-Islam jiddetta regoli stretti) qal:

He who utters ten times La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahulmulku wa lahulhamdu, wa Huwa `ala kulli sha’in qadir (There is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner. His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent), he will have a reward equal to that for freeing four slaves from the progeny of Prophet Isma`il. (Al-Bukhari u Musulmani)
