Making wudu before you lay down to sleep at night is one of the simplest and most beautiful ways to gain hasanah for an action that would otherwise go unrewarded. The following hadith is a simple but powerful reminder of Allah’s mercy and and the numerous easy opportunities He has granted us to earn reward and forgiveness:

Ojiṣẹ Olohun (Olohun fi ibukun fun un ki o si fun un ni alaafia) sọ:

“Purify these bodies, and Allah will purify you. There is not a slave who spends his night in a state of purification except that an angel spends the night besides him. And whenever the slave turns over during the night, the angel says: ‘O Allah, forgive Your slave, for he went to sleep in a state of purification.’”

[Tabarani, al-Mu`jam al-Kabir]

Subhan'Allah, many of us ask people to make dua for us during our time of difficulty, but what about a specially assigned angel making dua for us all night every night whilst we are sleeping?

Let’s make this Sunnah a part of our daily routine and turn our hours of rest into hours of reward and du’a in our favour insha’Allah.
