A wise man once said that evil would always remain as long as good men stood back and did nothing. How true is this? The fact is that when people stay quiet on seeing an injustice, they are secretly saying to the one who is doing the injustice that it’s ok for them to continue.

The Prophet SAW said in an authentic hadith:

Narrated by Abu Sa’id al-Khudri

I heard the Messenger of Allah (sierras) Bix u ya'al: ‘He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do that, then he should do it with his tongue; and if he has not strength enough to do even that, then he should (at least abhor it) from his heart; and that is the least of faith.”

In your day to day life, get into the habit of speaking out against things that you see as oppressive or wrong. If someone is wrong, tell them, and fear Allah in case your silence makes you a part of their deed. And remember – if you fail to stand for something, you really will fall for anything.

May Allah SWT make it easy for us to stand against injustice and make us amongst the friends of Allah SWT Himself, Amin.
