Did you know that Allah SWT made the haram and halal completely clear through the Quran and Sunnah? This means nothing was left to chance and we are completely guided towards what is good and permissible, and clearly told what is evil and impermissible. There is however a grey area which can be misunderstood or can cause us problems in our deen.

Wathi uMprofeti uSAW:

The halal is clear and the haram is clear, and between them are matters unclear that are unknown to most people. Whoever is wary of these unclear matters has protected his religion and honor. And whoever indulges in them has indulged in the haram. It is like a shepherd who herds his sheep too close to preserved sanctuary, and they will eventually graze in it. Every king has a sanctuary, and the sanctuary of Allah is what He has made haram. There lies within the body a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the whole body is sound; and if it is corrupted, the whole body is corrupted. Verily this piece is the heart.

Ngoko ke, if you are mindful of Allah SWT and wish to be upon righteousness, actively seek to stay clear of the grey matters and sincerely ask Allah SWT to purify your heart. A sincere heart is the key to goodness and will help make it easier for you to stay upon halal than gravitate towards haram.
